From the warehouse to the boiler

Flexible storage technology for every area of application

With pellets, heating is convenient – including with regard to the storage of the small pressed wood pellets. Regardless of the structural conditions, a pellet boiler can be set up in almost any building thanks to HDG's flexible discharge technology – not only that, but it can be perfectly tailored to individual needs.

Austragung Pellet Übersicht
  • Pellet mole: Ideal for individually planned fuel storage rooms and particularly quick to install. There is not usually any need for a sloping floor.
  • Pellet suction probes: Most common storage system, because individual rooms are fully utilised. Variants with up to 8 probes are possible.
  • Pellet fabric silo: Prefabricated pellet store, which is quickly installed without much planning effort. Can also be placed directly next to the boiler if no extra fuel storage room is available.
  • Why should I heat with pellets?

Pellets combine many positive properties. Like all wood fuels, pellets are CO2-neutral, because here, too, only the CO2 is released that was previously absorbed by the tree during growth. In addition, pellets are relatively stable in price and inexpensive, especially compared to fossil fuels. Another advantage is that pellets are produced locally, are independent of raw material imports from abroad and create added value in the region. Last but not least, pellets can be used flexibly - in the small output range, e.g., as a replacement for oil heating, all the way to municipal heating networks.

  • Are forests cleared for pellet production?

No, because almost exclusively residual materials from the sawmill industry are used to produce the small pellets, and the raw material potential is far from exhausted. In addition, strict forestry laws in Europe prevent overuse. In Germany, for example, 30 percent more wood grows each year than is used. The supply is therefore seething.

  • Are pellets available everywhere?

Yes, because wood pellets are produced regionally and therefore have particularly short transport distances. In Germany and Austria, around four million tons of pellets are currently produced each year. Three million of these are used locally, and one million tons are exported.

  • Do emissions occur when burning wood pellets?

Particularly important in times of climate change: heating with wood pellets is CO2-neutral. This makes pellet heating systems superior to all fossil fuel heating systems as well as heat pumps - at least if they are operated with fossil fuel-generated electricity. At around 1.8 percent, modern central wood heating systems are responsible for only a negligible proportion of particulate emissions in Germany. The trend is downward, because the bulk of particulate emissions from wood-fired systems originates from the old stock. The fact is that every old boiler that is replaced by a modern wood-fired heating system reduces particulate emissions by up to 90 percent, thanks in part to the latest combustion and separation technology.

  • How much does a pellet heater from HDG cost?

It is difficult to give a general answer to this question, because the requirements are different for each project. In addition to the right boiler with the right output, the required accessories must also be considered. Furthermore, in addition to federal subsidies, there are also regional subsidy programs. Your HDG field service contact will be happy to explain which HDG pellet heating system is right for you and what costs you can expect.
